God wants us to walk in obedience—not victory. Obedience is oriented toward God; victory is oriented toward self. This may seem to be merely splitting hairs over semantics, but there is a subtle, self-centred attitude at the root of many of our difficulties with sin. Until we face this attitude and deal with it, we will not consistently walk in holiness.
This is not to say God doesn't want us to experience victory, but rather to emphasise that victory is a by product of obedience. As we concentrate on living an obedient, holy life, we will certainly experience the joy of victory over sin.
Jerry Bridges, The Pursuit of Holiness
Why God wanted us to OBEY? Because He love us. That's it. He knows what's best for us. He don't want us to be hurt. All He wanted is for us to be happy and if we obey, victory will surely will follow. And when we had victory, surely you will only boast out that God did everything. Simple yet its hard to do. OBEY! =)
Like in our human nature, at times we fail our parents. Right? Because you don't obey. Isn't it's hard to obey God if at the first place you tend to disobey your parents. Our parents just like our God the Father, they only want what's best for you, and again they love you that's why they discipline you. And God said you should Honor your father and mother.
There are many areas in life that obedience is needed. Obedience is a key to meet God. It's not us meeting God's needs but it's God meeting our needs. He will surely show how great He is in your life and how big is He can do for your life. Trust Him, OBEY! =)
